The Fulton Crisis Care Coalition has come together to advocate for better and more response options for people who are experiencing mental health crises in Fulton County, Georgia.

.

Among us are people who are directly impacted, crisis care workers, and community advocates. Our group is broad and diverse, but we shared the reality of navigating enormous gaps in our local crisis care system.

Crisis is an inflection point.

If the police are called during a mental health emergency, that can lead someone down a path with irrevocable consequences. If someone is hospitalized, that is another path with a lifetime impact. There is a lot that we can do as individuals within our communities to successfully navigate crisis. However, when a situation escalates to the point where outside intervention is needed, public responses are limited and can quickly escalate to taking away a person’s ability to make choices for their own well-being. We see an urgent need for change.
